Pleasant Valley, Nevada

We spent that last few nights of our trip with Laurel, Russell, and kids. What a sweet family they are. We were there when the first low offer came in on their house and so were especially happy when they called to tell us of the wonderful, magical one came in.

I can't remember a more relaxing and stress free vacation than this one was. We stopped where we wanted, at out or cooked when we wanted, saw beautiful things and enjoyed wonderful people!

Crater Lake, Oregon

Crater Lake has to be one of the most beautiful spots in the West. I can't believe that I lived just hours from it and have never seen it before. Because of our Golden Eagle Pass the campground was only $13.50. What a wonderful experience it was.

Glide, Oregon

We spent the night with Millie Scott and she was very gracious.

Her house is lovely and I'm happy that she has something so nice right next to John's unbelieveable place.

Cape Blanco Lighthouse

We were able to take a tour of the Cape Blanco Lighthouse. It was very interesting to learn about the families that lived there and operated it.

Have you ever seen prettier water?

Oregon Coast

I thought that the water became even more beautiful as we came into Oregon.

Gold Beach, Oregon

After spending a night in a Walmart parking lot in Crescent City, CA we spent the next night at Gold Beach in Oregon. We had the best fish and fries that I've ever eaten there. They go to the fish market in the same building and get the fish fresh each day.

We had fun flying one of the kites we brought from China.

Patrick's State Park and Sumeg Indian Village

Next we visited Patrick's State Park and a Sumeg Indian Village. The area still is used sometimes by the tribe.

Redwood Forest

We drove on up the coast to the majestic redwoods.

I still can't believe that Mike was able to stand in the center of the toppled tree.

Ferndale, California

We took a little side trip to a tourist town that has restored Victorian architecture, Ferndale, CA. Prices were high and it was obviously designed for the tourist business but it was interesting to
see.

We had lunch at a very advertised Samoa Cookhouse where they used to feed hundreds of loggers and fishermen. It was fun to see and the food was plentiful.

Black Beach, California

Just a few miles from our RV park was an area called Black Beach. It was actually not sand but round rocks that turned black when they were wet. It was interesting to hear them as they rolled back out with the waves.

It was interesting to see the different colors of starfish.

There is always some guy who has to be brave and dangle himself across the rocks and water.

Shelter Cove, California

The Carters had spent time years ago at Shelter Cove, CA and wanted to return there.

We had one of the most frightening trips I remember down a very narrow, steep and winding road down to the beach. I started giggling and said I thought I'd sing but couldn't bring any songs to mind. The trailer was pushing us and our brakes started smelling even when we we geared down.

The cove itself was an area where boats could pull in when winds were high or it was stormy. There were sea lions that we could hear barking on a rock just out from the shore line.

Tsunami was not even a word I was familiar with not too many years ago but we found these signs off and on all along our costal trip.
