Logan, Utah Temple

We got up early, had breakfast and then went through a session at the Idaho Falls temple and then went on down to Logan, Utah and went through a session there.

We were able to visit 6 temples, three wonderful sets of friends and see so many beautiful memorable places. What a trip!

Idaho Falls, Idaho

We drove on down through Swan Valley on the east side of Flathead Lake. It was another beautiful place where I would like to return. We were within seconds of bringing parts of a deer with us but Mike was able to swerve and get between the three. The Smith's met us to go to the Rexburg temple for a session and then we spent the night in Idaho Falls.

Banff to Whitefish

On Monday morning we went together into Banff and walked up and down the streets. It is a tourist town but the shops were filled with a few different Canadian things and many bear and moose items. We left after lunch and drove down through Radium Hot Springs and spent the night in Whitefish, MT in the same motel that we used on the way up. We saw a beautiful rainbow. I especially love the shot that got through the windshield with the raindrops.

Church in Canmore

On Sunday we went into Banff to church from the time share in Canmore where we were staying. The thrill for me was that there was a Chinese girl there who was traveling on her own and had joined the church in Vancouver Island about a year ago. She sat with me, I gave her a pearl necklace that I had in my purse and we gave her one of our cards with our picture and addresses. She wrote yesterday and said that she loves to look at our smiling faces in the Chinese clothing. I hope that she can come and visit some day. I fell instantly in love with her.

Lake Minnewanka and Banff Hotel, Canada

We also visited Lake Minnewanka where the water was as blue as it was green at Lake Louise.

The last grand old hotel that we saw was the Banff hotel. What a mammoth place that was. I took a few interior pictures of the older inside before my battery went dead.

Lake Louise, Canada

We drove over to Banff that afternoon and went up to Lake Louise. The last time I had been there was with my roommate, Yvonne, in 1996. The lake was still the same unbelieveable green color. (The little Indian children had performed just before we got there but they let me take
their picture.)

The lodge or Chateau Lake Louise has changed quite a bit, however. The poster photo is how it looked when I was there before. It is much prettier now.

Canmore, Canada

After driving around in the snow for a while we went back to Cardston where we had left our car at Pat's brothers. We spent the night at their home in Calgary and then took the beautiful drive over to Canmore.

Red Canyon, Canada

This area was called Red Canyon. I have seen lots of orange/red rocks in my day but these were really red.

Snow!

We were surprised to wake up on Friday morning with snow on Burton's car. We drove around the campground and it was beautiful but probably a bit difficult for the campers.

Remington/Alberta Carriage Museum

On Thursday afternoon we visited the Remington/Alberta Carriage Museum. It is supposed to be the 2nd largest collection in the world. Things are displayed very well, there is an informative movie and Mike loved the restoration shop where two specialists are restoring old carriages, wheels, etc. He got a chance to ask them some questions that, no surprise to any of you who know Mike well, they had never heard before. I think he could have spent days there and I
truly enjoyed it, too.

Cardston, Canada

We spent Wed night in a motel in Cardston and then went through a session with the Shield's in the temple there. I think that of the four restored temples that we have visited this one kept the greatest amount of original character. It has wonderful wood paneling and trim.

Waterton Lake, Canada

On Wed. afternoon we met our friends from China, Pat and Burton Shields. We spent five great days with them.

The first thing we did on Wed. afternoon was to drive over to the Canadian side of the Glacier/Waterton Lakes Peace Park and saw Waterton Lake and the famous hotel that we remembered from our honeymoon. It was closed for the season but is a magnificient old hotel that was built when the railroads helped build mammoth hotels at the national parks and brought tourists there.
We drove around the Waterton area and visited this pretty little lake in the mountains of the park. Cameron Lake.

Glacier National Park, Montana

For anyone who has not driven through Glacier Nat'l Park I would recommend that you put it on you to-do list. It is magnificent. We were able to drive through the whole thing in the morning but could easily have spent a lot more time visiting the centers, stopping at all of the view points, etc.
