Only the Potatoes Left to Dig

This is the tomato crop that we picked today.  We pulled up all of the plants and left the tiny ones on them.
We have already done all of our canning of tomatoes, juice and salsa so we will be giving most of these away. Apparently they will last quite a while if wrapped in newspaper so we will keep some for salads later on but we've had some neighbors express some interest so we'll share, too.

We got an unbelievable crop of winter squash and gourds this year.  We eat a little of it but we'll be giving a lot away.
(Added Oct. 23- We got about 125 pounds of potatoes this year.  Less than last year but a nice crop.)

Actually, about half of that top load are gourds that we grew for Lanny to carve.  There are 29 of them and some of them are very large and interesting shapes.  I think he can be carving for years with this crop.  He brought the plants and we just watered and grew them.

Last week we had Randy & Rebecca Britsch and family down to spend the night and to can tomatoes.  We let them pick our biggest pumpkin to take home but that the one that is left is not tiny.  We were able to send two boxes to a friend in the Stake, one to James and did juice for Lanny and Shirley.  Our friends, the Carters had given us some great tomatoes that helped with two day canning.  They also gave some to a lady in our Ward who I visit teach. 

We are wanting more lawn (and less weeds) north of the patio on the north of the house (before the garden) so we brought in dirt and planted grass today.  It will go from the present grass below the patio to the new fence on the south and west.  It won't be a very large lawn, even then, but will provide a nicer area for enjoying the patio.
