Dave and Cherry Blake Visit for July 4th and 5th

One of the delightful things that is a result of our missions and service experiences is the association we continue to have with some of the great people we have been with.  David and Cherry Blake taught at the other university in Qingdao but were good friends in the branch.  We were able to visit with them a bit a few weeks ago at a gathering for some past Qingdao teachers and talked them into coming down for a visit.  Although their home is in Corvallis, OR they are presently on an LDS mission doing Family History in Salt Lake so they were able to come down for a visit.

We started with the Mt Pleasant July 4th Breakfast.  Although we have never taken advantage of it in the past we won't miss it again.  It was quite an amazing thing to see such efficient workers feeding flocks and flocks of people very good food.  After breakfast we strolled around and saw the tents and booths that were set up, most based around a Mountain Man theme.

We came back to the house and they spent some time helping us to learn a bit more about doing family history.  We had lunch, did some more family history and then in the evening had fun trying to do a Mongolian Hot Pot dinner as close to that we had together in Xian and when it got dark we sat on the landing of the stairs and watched the fireworks in Mt Pleasant and Moroni.

After breakfast this morning we did some more family history and then went to Fairview and visited the museum there.  We finished our visit with lunch at the great Mexican place here in town.  It was fun to be with them and we ate more in the two days than we usually would have in four.  Oh, what a punishment!
