The driver was talking as we passed these buildings and didn't mention what they were but it always amazes me how you go from shacks to amazing structures like these.

Hangzhou
Soon after we left the airport after arrival in Hangzhou we started seeing this big homes on both sides of the road. Our tour guide explained that they are single family dwellings, usually 4 stories, that farmers live in. The government has been taking their property but will build them homes for a very small price so they now have huge homes by Chinese standard and open little stores or have small gardens. We saw them for miles along the road and I'm sure we only saw a small portion of the land.

Wow! What does a farmer do with a huge home like that? And how do they support themselves?
