Trip with Healeys to Monticello and Bluff
These two are our Ward friends Bob and Sylvia Healey. They are considering volunteering to be missionaries to the restored fort. Bob has been helping me to figure out and load my new computer and we wanted to do something for them so we planned this trip. Bob's grandmother bought and lived in this house for many years not too long after Jens Nielsen died. Jens was the leader of the saints that came to Bluff and he was bishop for 20 years. Bob used to come down to Bluff in the summers and help his grandmother and went swimming in the swimming hole that is the top picture here. Sadly someone has been pumping the water out of the hole so it more like a swamp now. I can just imagine the joy of working hard in the sweltering heat and then taking the hike to the swimming hole.
It is really a beautiful area of interesting rocks and bluffs but certainly must have been something else without electricity and the only water until they dug wells being from a very dirty river.
