Seoul Korea

Our Branch in Qingdao is half Korean. One of the 4 families moved back to Korea in February. They were a real strength to the Branch. He was in the Branch Presidency and she was a counselor in the Primary. They have moved back to their home in Korea and they are the Kang famiy that we spend our time with in Korea. They were amazing hosts.

We have just returned from a whirlwind trip to Seoul, Korea. We stayed in a hotel downtown but this lovely family, the Kangs, were our host family the entire time. He picked us up at the airport and took us back today. We spent Friday with them at the Korean Folk Village. They took us to the food court where many of the people sat on wood floors with low tables. Thank goodness there where benches and tables for old Americans. We tried some very interesting dishes. My favorite was a pork shiskabob but we tried noodles, eggs, vegetables and other dishes.

They seem so comfortable at the low tables. Many were under tents but there were also little rooms where a family or group would take off their shoes and then go in and eat.

These ladies were singing and performing in the traditional Korean costume. I think it was like Christmas when they let different groups come and perform. They seemed to be really enjoying themselves and it was fun to watch them.
