After we left the museum we headed to the airport to fly to
Hainan Island which is the Hawaii of China. We spent the night in the city of
Sanya. It has three areas which our tour guide referred to as the gold, the silver and the Russian area. Our hotel was in the Russian area. While the rest of the world was not traveling in China Russia was freely coming to this area of beach Many of the stores and food places have Russian as well as Chinese signs. The gold area is where the Marriott type of hotels are, the older downtown where the locals live and shop is referred to as the silver and the Russian is the beach for normal tourists like us.
Marilyn Nelson and I bought hats to match our tee shirts.

Shots from the 'gold' area. The first picture is coconuts of different colors and stages and their Muslim sales lady.
