We left home on Monday and joined my siblings for a dinner at Gloria's Italian Food in Provo where we signed some papers on one of Mom's trusts. After a great meal there we went to Pat's house where his brother's Joel and Jon were and we visited with them.
We picked Steph and Art up and they drove us to Connie and Ryan's where we slept. I set the alarm on my cell phone (which has always worked) and we went to sleep. Steph was to pick us up to take us to the airport at 4:30 AM. At 4:10 Mike woke me and told me what time it was. We just hurried and dressed and Steph was parked in the driveway waiting for us.
We made it to the airport in plenty of time but it was swarming with people. It looked like the entire MTC had unloaded. Missionaries were packed in every line along with hundreds of other people. It appears that 7 AM flights on Tuesday morning are very popular.
We were very lucky because many people on our flight barely made it through security but as we were leaving the area where we checked our bags a smiling airport policeman came up to us and asked if we remembered him. It was the younger Haggerty boy, (Josh?) and he was working there. After we chatted for a minute Mike asked him if he had pull on getting us through the line. He said that it was no problem and took us to the front of the special needs line and sent us right through. He is such a cute kid. It was fun to see him and we appreciated his help.
We went directly to a wonderful bar-b-que place and had a great meal there in Raleigh. When we got to Adam and Amy's they gave Mike the book of letters from the kids for his birthday. He was visually touched as he read each letter and then handed it to me to read. He wrote journal notes for the rest of the trip on some of the other pages. It was a very meaningful gift for him. Seventy was a great birthday. (I gave him a watch that he had picked out when we were in Reno. We are great with surprise gifts.)
