Visit from the Blakes

We enjoyed having my cousin Charlene and her husband John Blake spend some of yesterday and today with us.  We love it when they come down to Mt Pleasant.  They helped us to learn more about doing family history, we had some good meals together and went to visit a few things.

 

The first place we went was the Museum in Fairview.  It is always fun to look at the huge mastodon skeleton.

 

 

The famous sculptor, Arvad Fairbanks, was head of the art department at the U of U and he had a daughter-in-law from Fairview.  When their old elementary school became vacant he rented it as a place to have a studio and do some of his work.  Many of his sculptures and copies of others are displayed in the two buildings that house the museum not.  I love the two huge ones of the restoration of the Aaronic and Melchizedek Priesthood.  

 

 

There was also a wonderful show of local artist's work as well as many regular paintings, the antique collection and the outdoor museum.  They really enjoyed our time there.

 

After we left there we dropped by the house for a few minutes and then went to the Mexican place for dinner to celebrate our 35th anniversary.  After we came home John helped us to get set up on "Roots Magic" and we did a little family history work.

 

This morning we had breakfast, did more family history and then drove down and saw some of the buildings at Snow College and then spent some time in the old CO-OP arts and crafts shop and then on our way home we stopped in old train depot antique store here in Mt. Pleasant.  We then had lunch and we visited for a while and then they headed home. 

 

We always love to have them visit.  They love coming to the country and we love them.
