Day Seven- Tauranga, New Zealand

Our first stop was in the small town of Tauranga.  It is really a village but is the largest city in the Bay of Plenty and it is growing rapidly.  Mike and I enjoyed walking through the town, along the waterfront and the harbor.  This tree is called a Norfolk pine.  They were very common and very beautiful.  The shape was often almost perfect.  The needles are more like a thin leaf.

These are some pictures from along the beach.  There had been an oil spill near here and we thought that maybe the people in white were cleaning up but when we found the limit sign we decided that they might be gathering clams or other shells.
