Guilin

We spent the night in Gulin and then took a 4 1/2 hour river cruise on the Li river which connects Guilin and Yangshuo. Our travel information said this, which describes it well, "You will see some extraordinary limestone peaks, sprays of bamboo along riverbanks, cormorant fishermen in small boats and picturesque villages.

Cormorant fishing (remember in "Ping" how the birds had rings around their necks and so when they catch a fish they can't swallow it so they bring it to the master who takes the whole fish and gives them a bite that they can swallow? The night pictures were a performance. We were in a very uncomfortable boat with kindergarten chairs ant the people across from you meeting knees (not for big Americans) but it was fun when we were able to see.

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL scenery...

A taxi - note the bike.

One section is the photo on the 20 RNB piece of Chinese money. These are our friends from Mt. Pleasant and the 20 RNB note.

Salesmen on bamboo rafts came up to your window and tried to sell you "jade " treasures made of plastic.

These three pictures are of the cooks preparing our "interesting and I'm sure less than sanitary meal" on the back of the boat.
