We lucked out in our room in
Yangshou. The room was large with a balcony and a view of the neighboring mountain. It
was really a fun town and I was sorry that all of our meals were paid for and basically the same Chinese economy menu there. We haven't visited any place except
Hong Kong that offered so many American foods on the windows--cheesecake, brownies, steaks, and the like. The "western street markets" really had nothing but the food that were western but they were fun and we spent quite a bit of time there. I bought some silk scarfs, a stone
xylophone with Chinese carving on the bars and a long shoehorn made from a water buffalo horn.

We traveled by bus to
Guilin and visited Trunk Hill Park.

We visited the Reed Flute Cave which is 240 meters underground. It is very dramatic and filled with colored lights which made it hard to give a true picture. The Crystal Palace of the Dragon King is a
grotto in the center of the cave which can hold 1000 people. Only 13 rooms of the cave can be visited.
