Fredericton, Bay of Fundy/Hopewell Rocks, Alma

My favorite B & B on the trip was the Brennan's B&B in Fredericton.  It was built in 1895 by the Chestnut family who were hardware merchants and founders of the famous Chestnut canoe.  It is described as a Queen Anne Revival mansion.  The home was lovely, the host were excellent, the food was so fresh and good, the bed was excellent, the towels were the fluffiest, the view from the hotel the most breath taking.  It was just a lovely night.

Mike and I got up in the morning and took a walk along the river and across the bridge of the Saint John river.  It was SO beautiful.  The old railroad bridge used to swing over so that ships could come up the river.

Once we got on the road we were headed for Bay of Fundy and Hopewell Rocks.  We took one wrong turn that took us past a very pretty lake and still arrived there in time to walk on the ocean floor before the tide came back up.

Mike got up early the next morning and went out again.  The tide was not at its highest but there was a good comparison. He took my camera and got pictures.

After we left the Hopewell Rocks we drove out along a coast road to a lighthouse and then went into Alma where we looked at some of the fishing boats and then had a bowl of the thickest, tastiest chowder that I have ever tasted.

We stayed in Riverside-Albert at Maplegrove Inn.  We had seafood egg dishes for breakfast there that was very good. The inn was built in 1854 and could tell many stories, I'm sure but it was plain compared to the night before.
